Fairbanks and Cole 5-string banjo, S/N 7375, Circa 1887.

This is an exquisitely preserved banjo from the classical period with a 12” spunover rim, long two-pointed shoes, and ivory tuners and tailpiece.  The mahogany neck shows no playing wear and has an extended ebony fingerboard with 22 frets.  The fingerboard has delicate saw cut inlays of colorful snail shell.
