Fairbanks & Cole guitar-banjo, S/N 1318, Circa 1881
This may be the only Fairbanks & Cole guitar-banjo extant, and it was probably a custom order from early in the F&C partnership. Note the marquetry and pearl inlay around the bottom edge of the rim and the tasteful inlay on the fingerboard. The banjo also has a typical early F&C boat heel.
