J.E. Quinlan 5-string banjo, Circa 1890's

Quinlan was another obscure Boston banjo maker like Eibel, and this banjo is beautifully made with fine inlay work and a tubaphone-like tone ring.  Note the cobra hooks and other Fairbanks-like hardware, and the nice ebony backstrap.  There is a clever adjustable neck angle device at the tailpiece end of the dowel stick.
