J.B. Schall (unmarked) 5-string banjo Circa 1890

This is a more typical J.B. Schall banjo than the other two in my collection, with the characteristic engraved German Silver plates on the peghead and fingerboard, together with some simple pearl inlays.  Note the similarity of the flowerpot on the peghead to the one in pearl on my Schall-made Denzel banjo.  This banjo has the double-spun (metal inside and outside) rim also seen on many Schall banjos, including my Denzel.  The rim is quite large, almost 13" in diameter.
