Stetson (by Fairbanks) 5-string banjo, Circa 1897

This second Stetson banjo in my collection is not as fancy as my Stetson presentation ladies banjo, but it is a fine instrument, and like the other example it is clearly made by Fairbanks.  Although there is no Fairbanks serial number, dating the banjo is pretty easy since it has the long dowel stick ferrule and second generation neck brace that were introduced by Fairbanks in 1896.  The pearl inlay pattern, especially on the peghead, is quite unusual, although a few typical Fairbanks inlays are present.
