S.S. Stewart "Imperial Banjeaurine" No. 3, S/N 14576, Circa 1894

Stewart invented the banjeaurine as a lead instrument in the banjo orchestras that he popularized.  This is a grade 3 example of his Imperial Banjeaurine, which had a large 12" head.  Note the nice inlay work, the delicate heel carving, the marquetry work on the inside of the rim, and the patented steel brace/adjustment bar on the back of the rim.
