Unmarked fretless 5-string banjo, Circa 1867
This beautiful banjo is marked "1867" which is almost certainly the date of manufacture. The rim is rolled brass with shield brackets and bent hooks. Note the early use of pearl and wood inlay for ornamentation. The tuners appear to be original to the banjo, and the unique tailpiece looks to be original as well.
